Our Story

Mount Etna Wesleyan Church was founded in 1847, and has a rich history.  Two years ago the church was about to close it's doors.  They had an average of 12-20 people each Sunday, and took a vote to shut down.  However, Indiana North District thought it'd be worth giving them another shot, and they called Brian Holland, the youth pastor at Chapel Pike Wesleyan to come and be the senior pastor.  After much prayer and contemplation for all parties involved, Chapel Pike teamed up with Mt Etna, sending 6-7 families with Brian, along with several of his youth practicum students.  That first Sunday we went from 15 to 60.  We currently average between 50 and 80 each Sunday.
We have seen, in our two years after the restart, God work in marvelous ways.  We've seen Him provide for us as we looked to get a sound system, projectors, chairs, even things as small as name tags (and recently, a van).  We've seen Him as we sent a family to Papa New Guinea, and then saw Him work through them as the ministry they planned on taking a number years was completed in three months.  He's helped us send missionaries to Australia, and New Zealand as well, where teens were taught how to tell their story through video and short films.  We've seen a number of people join the congregation as members, and have seen five people baptized in these two years.  God continues to work in and through Mount Etna Wesleyan Church, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this church.
